We have been painting the new house for two days in a row now. Who would have thought you could wake up so sore just from painting?
Picking out paint colors is not an easy task. I took about 4 tries to get the right hue for the house. Back and forth to Home Depot we went. After purchasing quarts for sampling we had spent about $50. Which is worth it because the colors we liked looked completely different once we put them on the wall!
It was my first experience with dealing with Northern light- its very blue! So colors tend to look more pink and washed out. Even though I had learned this in one of my design classes, I couldn’t really understand it until I personally saw this phenomenom.
The existing color of the main house was a light yellow which wasnt too horrible, but niether of us were crazy about the color. The master bedroom was a light key lime green which i thought was pretty nasty. The smaller bedroom was a bright barn red and the add-on room was a dark purple. I don’t want to be rude but… What were they thinking?!
Needless to say, we finally found the color that we were excited about, ran to Home Depot, and began the painting palooza.
Here are some BEFORE pics:
This red room was very difficult to paint. FYI: if you ever paint a room red know that when you do decide to paint it a lighter color its not going to be easy! It took us two coats of primer and about five coats of white. But now we finally have a nice clean white room!
Oh, and these pics actually make the rooms’ colors look nicer then they were in reality. The colors were much more saturated in person.
Now the DURING pics:
I will get back to you on the AFTER pics. What do you think of the light sage green we chose for the living room?

Anna, the house is going to be beautiful! Sage and moss tones are perfect with any type of wood and are very soothing, healing colors. French doors and a nice fireplace! Looks like a lovely tree out the kitchen window, too. Is that where the deck is?
Love, tu mama
P.S. cute legs!
