Inspiration: Purple, Plum, or Eggplant?

Yesterday I was reading my friend Liz’s blog and it had me thinking about what  things I am INTO right now. She made some very impressive color/inspiration boards. Since I am stuck working at the store most of the tme I always think how nice it would be to be at home gaining and doing inspiring things. Then it came to me… Why must I be at home? Even at work, my creative wheels are turning. Sometimes I will be sitting and reading a magazine and feel like I need to take a photo (with my awesome new iPhone) of what I’m looking at so that I can have it with me at all times. This made me go back through some of my photos. I figured I would share them with you.

Doesn’t it look like these are real fabrics put onto paper? This is the front cover of the Neiman Marcus catalog for this season. I’m unsure of who the artist is. What a genius idea! I’m sure the artist used actual fabrics combined with hand sketching to make these gorgeous fashion statements. The cover of the catalog paper was raised a little to amplify its dimension even more. I had to touch it to see if maybe it was real.

A few of my favorite items from the innards of the mag.

I was thinking how funny it is the way I change my feelings about things. For example: I usually cannot stand the color purple. But for some reason if its the fall seaon and I call  purple “plum” I will adore the color “purple.” This type of thing happend to me yesterday. I was looking around the store and normally there are accessories that don’t excite me in the least. But as I was looking at a beautiful lingerie catalog (oo la la!) I looked around me and my perspective changed, I could see things through a different view. I took my camera out and everything just seemed to fall right into place. Sexy, lacey, feminine, dainty, french, romantic…. Who would have thought?!

Have a great day!
