Inspiration: booked, snapped, and butterflied

Lately I have been enjoying some random books that I bought off of Amazon.  Im always in love with the cool books design, furniture and clothing stores feature. Heres a little tip for those of you who like to save money: I have the iphone (but you can use your camera) bring it with you everywhere you go and snap pictures of any books that catch your eye. Then later go through your phone or camera and get the name and author off the picture. Look the book up on Amazon and “voila” you can purchase for waaaay less then they are selling it at the store! Especially if you buy used- which is better for the environment anyway ;)       I even use this little trick when I go to Borders or Barnes & Noble. Very sneaky.

The book I have in front of me right now is called “Creating Vintage Style” by Lucinda Ganderton. I think I bought this one for like 3 dollars used.

Here are a few of my favorite inspirational photos from the book…

I guess you can see that I have been a little influenced by my friend Liz. She is pregant and getting the baby room ready. See her wonderful blog for more info  http://acolorfullife.wordpress.com/     The baby room above is so adorable. I wonder where they got that crib?

The picture of the office space is a little more reflective of my own designing dilemmas: I just cant decide what to do in the dang office! And the last picture, of what looks to be a little girls room, I found creative because of the use of small wallpaper scraps made into one quilt-looking wall.

Oh, here is another book that I bought online for .85! Actually, I bought three of them for under three dollars- Great Christmas presents for your fun girlie friends. The store where I saw it was selling it for 20 bucks…yikes! This particular book, “Wacky Chicks” by Simon Doonan, is pretty hilarious.

I also wanted to add a few more pictures that I took in San Francisco. I got a little artsy with my iphone and attempted some photography.

And here are a few pics from the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. Lots of fun creatures to admire:

Lastly, here is a butterfly that decided to be my friend while I was sitting on the porch eating my soup:
